Hier kommen die Insider Tipps für die besten Ski & Snowboard Gebiete rundum Vancouver direkt von Joey, unserem Activity Manager in Vancouver
I am happy to give you someadvice. As a certified ski instructor and avid snowboarder, I have all thehot tips.
North Shore Mountains:
1. Seymour Mountain has an annual pass for $499 (which is the best deal intown). It is perfect for beginner to intermediate skiers or snowboarders. For some reason many snowboarders like it better and as a result, they havea fantastic terrain park (jumps). They have passes for their shuttle busseswhich run for about $150 for the season.
2. Grouse Mountain is much easier to get here because of their famous 100person gondola. Beware that coming down the mountain at peak times can haveyou waiting in long lines. Their annual passes are $825. Honestly, I likeGrouse when their back-country runs are open. They are quite challenging(double black diamonds) but they close at dusk.
3. Cypress Mountain is now closed to prepare for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Out of Town: Skiing and SnowboardingWhistler is a 1 hour and 30 minute drive outside of Vancouver. It is thebest in terms of diversity of the runs, as well as convenience. Because itis situated on the Westcoast, it has more damp snow. Drier 'powder' can befound in the interior of British Columbia at Sun Peaks or Big White (5 hourseast of Vancouver). If you are looking for some Rocky Mountain skiing orsnowboarding, make sure that you check the road conditions. Those highwayscan be dangerous but if they are clear, your in for an adventure!
No matter where you go, you can always try a new winter sport:Cross-country skiing is a low impact way of getting exercise.Snow-shoeing will have you exploring the trails of our majestic rainforest.Snow-tubing (sledding) at Seymour Mountain usually leads to a snowball fightwith good friends.Ice Skating is a romantic activity available at Robson Square (downtown) foronly the cost of $3 skate rentals.Curling is a fun team winter sport. Join a league in the city.Snowmobiling is popular for anyone who has the need for speed. Rentals canbe expensive but worth every penny. If you have any more questions about winter sports or other winteractivities in Vancouver, please don't hesitate to ask.
Yours truly,Joey
